PROGRAM

Hendrickson Band Program

The Hawk Band is comprised of multiple performing ensembles: Marching Band, Concert Band Ensembles, Jazz I & II , Percussion Ensemble, & Winter Color Guard. These ensembles provide many performing opportunities for students in the Hendrickson community.

Marching Band

The marching band is a nationally recognized organization and the largest group on campus. The ensemble has performed throughout the state of Texas and nationally, participating in both UIL and Bands of America Circuits in the 5A arena. The Hawk Band has made appearances at the BOA Grand Nationals contest, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Fiesta Bowl Parade, & the Disney Parade.

Typically summer rehearsals start a month prior to the start of school in preparation for the upcoming competitive season. Students perform at both football games and contests.

Jazz Ensembles

The Jazz program is an up and coming high level performing group comprised of two ensembles. These ensembles meet after school throughout the school year. The Jazz II performs multiple concerts throughout the school year.  The Jazz I ensemble performs throughout the community and Central Texas area. They have performed at the Austin Trail of Lights, Pfestival of Lights, Weddings, and recently was invited to the Disney Performing Arts Invitational. Concert Ensembles

The band program is comprised of three concert ensembles. The Wind Ensemble, Philharmonia, & Symphonic Winds.  Each ensemble meets during its assigned class period and performs multiple concerts throughout the year. They also attend the UIL Concert & Sight Reading evaluation in the spring. The ensembles are assigned through an audition basis and the All-Region process.

Color Guard

The color guard is the visual aspect of the band program, combining dance and the use of equipment. In the fall the color guard accompanies the band through choreography and equipment to enhance the production.  In the spring semester they compete in Winter Guard circuits TCGC and WGI.

Percussion Studio

The Percussion Program is about 30 students large. In the fall they make up the marching band Front Ensemble and Drumline. In the spring, percussion performs with the concert ensemble and also independently in percussion ensembles where they gain specific instructional time to improve their skills and pedagogy. In past years the Hendrickson Percussion has competed in the TCGC Indoor circuit where they placed 3rd in 2018.
